Please join us in a shared communications space for the Interspecies Internet community.

We created a “Slack Workspace” for the Interspecies Community. You can read more about Slack here and access our Workspace here. The Workspace is a free Web/Mobile space we can use to share information, inspiration, our work, the field, and get to know each other a bit better. More than 275 people have joined the space since we launched it during the Interspecies I/O public eventin 2020, and since then, more than 3,000 messages have been shared there.

To join others who are working to advance the vision of Interspecies I/O, or to invite others you think would benefit from being part of our community, just click on or share this link.

Of special interest is this ad that Slack made in 2015. Maybe they knew we would be joining them?

We have created “Channels” organised around topics or projects, e.g. “in-the-news”, “events”, “machine-learning” and “introductions”. In addition to those public Channels, we can also set-up private Channels that only selected members can access. Anyone can also Direct Message (DM) one or more people on the service to share one-to-one messages or one-to-manage messages. Note that Web-based resources and other digital files (e.g. images) can easily be added to the system, and you can go back and edit your posts if you notice a spelling mistake or want to make other changes. And that Slack supports direct voice and video-based communications between members.

To get the most of our Slack, we encourage you to install the iOS or Android app on your phone and/or the Windows or macOS app on your computer. Many of you are probably already using Slack at work with other projects you are involved with. Once you have set-up Slack for one Workspace, switching between others is easy.

The purpose of this space is to support our work and the growing community involved with it. We set it up and are evolving it to do just that. If you have suggestions about how we can help make this service best meet your needs, or just have general questions or requests, please don’t hesitate to DM me “Mark Graham”. Or, if you can’t figure out how to do that, feel free to email me at mark@archive.org.
