Nature Perspectives: Unlocking Human–Nature Connection with AI
In a digital age that increasingly distances us from nature, a new paradigm is emerging—one that uses artificial intelligence to help us reconnect with the living world. This talk explores how AI can simulate the perspectives of animals, plants, and entire ecosystems, enabling people to engage in meaningful, first-person conversations with the natural world.
Nature Perspectives pioneers this new medium of engagement, using large language models and real-world data to bring nature’s stories, experiences, and voices into public consciousness. Gal Zanir will examine how first-person AI simulations can foster empathy, shift societal norms, and catalyze systemic change—expanding our moral circle beyond the human.
The talk will delve into the science of empathy-building conversations, showcase real-world examples, and reveal how this technology is being developed as a tool for education, advocacy, legal representation, and public engagement. Ultimately, it invites us to reimagine our relationship with the rest of nature through novel mediums for connection.
